Bible Study

Every second week or so we have been attending a bible study with a mix of expats and Chadians on a Sunday. We share lunch and chat for an hour or so and then we have been slowly working our way through the gospel of Luke. As there is a mix of French and English speakers (with mostly neither as a first language), the study is translated back and forth between the two languages so everyone can understand.

The study is graciously hosted most weeks by a Canadian family (their daughters do most of the translating as they went through French immersion schooling) and although the language and cultural differences provide some challenges, the content has been opening up plenty of conversation. There is a good mix of contributors to discussion and we are enjoying getting to know a couple of Chadians a little more and slowly trying to understand more French (or maybe that should be the other way around!).
