Homeschool Week

This week was Homeschool week at Wellspring. It was the second time homeschooling families have joined the Wellspring children at school and in doing so, almost doubled the number of students.

Throughout the week, the children learnt about Africa through various activities including listening to and reading stories, playing games, hearing and writing different types of poetry, making paper bead necklaces, shields, string paintings, music and dance. This was through both whole group and smaller group focussed times.

The smaller groups were based on each of the 4 African regions and this was also the focus for the first 4 days. Monday was based around countries in Northern Africa and this was also the focus group for Katie. Tuesday was Western countries, Wednesday - Southern and Thursday - Eastern. On Friday the children performed for their parents, sharing their poems, songs and what each group learnt about their region.
