We thought we’d put up a quick post to introduce you to the so far essentially faceless Scott! Scott has been over from the states for a while working on miscellaneous construction projects with AIM. He also grew up riding motorbikes, so he has helped John out a couple of times with the moto restoration project. Things are moving very slowly as John has only had part of a day here or there to work on the bike, but it has been fun for him finally having another young guy to hang out with a little bit.
Last weekend John stripped the seat, exhaust and air intake off the bike so that it was easier to get at the motor. Since neither of the boys have experience with this particular little farm bike (and don’t have access to a manual) they’ve been learning how it works by pulling things apart, figuring them out, then putting them back together again before they forget what goes where!
Right now, when John gets a moment, he’s been reading up on moto fuel systems. He hopes to adjust the fuel mixture so the bike runs a little better. With a few more weeks until he can get his Chadian license sorted, the aim is to get it all back together by then!
